THE ALASKA WORKER:
The Alaska Worker is published to tell the story to every AWA member, volunteer, supporter and friend of labor of what AWA is doing. As AWA grows in dimension and reaches out to more of Southcentral Alaska and beyond, so will The Alaska Worker.
AWA needs your support to build circulation and distribution. We need reporters from the community, writers and photographers for our next issue. AWA always needs experienced and apprentice graphic designers and printers, and volunteers with desk-top publishing and layout skills. Contact us at 907-272-6292 as soon as you can to get involved!

ARCTIC CURRENTS
In 2018, AWA’s membership newspaper, The Alaska Worker, began a regular column in the publication to tell the story of AWA members outside of the Anchorage area.
Only 14% of Alaska is accessible by road. The rest can only be reached by boat or plane, thus, Alaska has a system of nearly 800 registered airports, as well as water highways that are the only access to towns and villages across the state. The mainstream media rarely covers the lives of the tens of thousands of residents living in these areas, who are often negatively impacted by climate change, extreme weather and isolation. The Alaska Worker is committed to telling the stories of all Alaskans, especially as they relate to our common economic problems.
“Arctic Currents” features our members, volunteers and friends from these hard to reach places telling about living and working conditions, decision-making and independent efforts for positive change where they live.
